Life in California

I never was totally sure if we would end up in California or not. I mean I loved growing up here, but it is expensive and you just go where the job goes. Well after we had kids we realized living far away from family wasn’t really an option. It’s so important for them to have someone who loves them that much (besides their parents) in their lives if you can swing it.

Long story short.. Matt found a job listing that his current professor at NMSU also works for so he was able to give him a really good recommendation to get his resume pushed through. They put him through an intense phone interview and flew him out for an in person interview. They offered him the job about a week later. We then had to turn down a very persistent IBM who wanted to keep Matt, and within two weeks we were all packed up in a truck moving to California. All with a really hard recovery from having a baby, a newborn, and a toddler. A little bit crazy.

We then managed to find a small apartment in Huntington Beach full of amazing people. Sure the apartment is small and dark with shiny beige paint that makes me throw up a little bit, but I say “I love living here” out loud at least 3 times a day. I love living close to the beach. All our neighbors have young kids and they all go out and play in the huge front lawn together while the adults sit and talk. The general public is so happy here. I have met some amazing people, and I just feel like I am home. Like I belong here. And I haven’t felt that way in a long long time.

I’m trying my best not to come off as creepy to all these new people I meet, but I can’t believe how many people there are here that are in my same phase of life. So many young moms with common interests. I want to hug them all and tell them how they are answers to my prayers but I’m sure that would give a ridiculous first impression. Hah so I’m trying to keep my excitement at bay. But I’m happy. So so happy. I’m proud of my husband that scored a good job and that he works so hard for our little family. I hate having to share him, but I’m so grateful for the friends that have been put in my path so maybe the days while he is at work won’t be so long.

I’m just grateful. So so grateful.
